After going through History Day, many people have had things to say. The students participating, in both the Junior and Senior Division, and the adults involved, from coordinators to judges, have all had their share of the surprisingly rewarding History Day experience. Some have written articles, and some have just offered quotes, but we've made them available to you here.

Thanks for the opportunity Alan.  I had a great time with the middle school individual documentary judging that I did and wanted to thank you for the time you put into the event every year.  Great Job and I would be happy to help in the future on this or other projects.

Alan,

Thanks for the opportunity to be part of the history fair this weekend. I'm assuming that things went well after the awards part started. We worked on documentaries all day and I didn't get a chance until right before the ceremony to look at the exhibits. This was my first time judging and I was greatly impressed by not only the work turned out by the students, but the students themselves. Thanks for devoting so much to this event and making it happen. While the day was exhausting (and I had to get out before the ceremony for another event), I not only enjoyed myself, but learned a heck of a lot of history.

Thank you for all the hard work that you and others have put into National History Day. Yesterday was our first experience with NHD and we were amazed at all the exhibits, hard work and magnitude of the event. It was incredible! My son competed yesterday, and won 2nd place in the Junior Group Exhibit for Dropping the Bomb. We are so excited and proud!  He and his partner also received a  $25 Barnes and noble gift card at the beginning of the ceremony for their project,

We will always remember this very special day and are honored to have been a part of it and look forward to going to Tallahassee.

Thanks so much!

Dear Alan, I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to thank you personally yesterday during History Day for a very fine event.   I was honored to participate.   The exhibits were exceptional, and it was so gratifying to see the work of our super Pinellas County students.

All in all, it was a wonderful rewarding experience and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.  I look forward to next year.

Hi Alan,

What a great experience today!  Contrary to the newspapers, there are great, intelligent kids in Pinellas County Schools.  Very inspiring!

• President Bush
On September 17, 2002 President George W. Bush observed the 215th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution by announcing new policies and initiatives to support the teaching of American History and Civics and by joining America's students in a nationwide pledge of allegiance.

The President announced that National History Day, in collaboration with the National Archives and Records Administration, the Corporation for National and Community Service and the USA Freedom Corps, will be giving students and teachers across the country access to national treasures of American history through the "Our Documents" initiative.
